Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship among its members which are the Four Pillars of Sigma Alpha. These pillars are foundational to our chapter at the University of Florida. These pillars are what we centered our Sigma Alpha events around. Chapter members gain the confidence to achieve their dreams and are inspired to take action on campus and in the community.
Sigma Alpha values your learning experience at the University of Florida. Sisters get to connect with other girls with similar career goals and majors. Scholarship events are held on campus to allow study time, which usually also involves snacks!
Sigma Alpha sisters are leaders at the University of Florida and within their community. Sisters are exposed to professional speakers and professional development events, where they get to hear from industry leaders and learn about different fields of agriculture.
Sigma Alpha sisters give back to the Gainesville community through service events held throughout the year. We work with Field and Fork pantry, Alachua County Humane Society, Wilmont Gardens, Family Fishing Day, to name a few. Sigma Alpha’s national philanthropy is Ag in the Community, the mission to educate the public about agriculture. Sisters visit Alachua County schools to educate children about agriculture!
Sigma Alpha is a strong support system, where you find sisters for life. Some of our sisterhood events include Big/Little Reveal, Sisterhood Retreat, Semi-Formal, Formal, and socials. Each sister brings something special and unique to the table, sisters are always there for each other long past graduation.
